At 6-foot-5, 235-pounds, Daniel Ross is massive for a rising junior. Ross uses his overall size well on the basketball court to be one of the bright young players in Jefferson County, but his ability on the football field has earned him a scholarship offer from the University of Kentucky.
"My strengths on the field are my power and speed," said Ross. "I want to get better at my footwork to change up quicker than I do now," he continued.
Ross is a versatile player on the field, playing defensive end, linebacker and also fullback for Jeffersontown. Last year was his first year playing football, but he was impressive enough to get attention from several schools.
"Kentucky has been on me, but Cincinnati, Ball State, Campbellsville and Vanderbilt are recruiting me. But mostly UK," said Ross. The Wildcats are Ross's lone offer at this point, but that could change after another strong season on the gridiron.
While Ross is high on the Wildcats, it's still early in the process and he's not ready to make a commitment to them at this time. "Well, they are a good team," said Ross. "And I like coach Joker (Phillips), but I'm not just going to go there. I still got other options. I want to go there, but there are other options," Ross said.
Ross could also still wind up playing basketball at the next level as well, as he is good at the sport and that is his first love. "Well, I'm going to have to say basketball (is my favorite) because I grew up playing it. But I'm loving football," he finished.
Kentucky Sports Report will keep you updated on Ross's recruitment as information is available.
