Texas back likes Cats and others

There hasn't been as much talk about the running back spot this spring, but there is one running back that has got the Wildcats high up his list of suitors.

There hasn't been as much talk about the running back spot this spring, but there is one running back that has got the Wildcats high up his list of suitors.

Kentucky received a commitment last week from Texas linebacker Blake Terry. Kentucky is also interested in another Texan, Rickey Lunford. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound running back had a productive season last year with 1529 yards and 15 touchdowns for Brazoswood High in Freeport (Tx.).

Lunford received his first offer from the University of Kentucky in April and have remained in the group of schools that he's received the most contact from recently. "I hear most from Oklahoma State, Kentucky and TCU," said Lunford.

Lunford sports offers from not only the Wildcats, but also Oklahoma State, TCU, Houston and Boise State. But what is it about Kentucky that stands out?

"Their conference," he said.

Lunford was running the forty in 4.46 seconds this spring and had a best time of 4.33. He has done a good job relaying that speed and his other assets to the games.

"I have killer speed," said Lunford. "And I'm very strong. I impressed everyone, but I think I can do much better," he said.

Rickey Lunford is a prospect to keep an eye on this summer as he could see his stock continue to rise.
