Wiltjer is a Cat

When news began to surface that Kyle Wiltjer would be a Kentucky Wildcat, most observers believed that it was a long shot, and likely just rumor. But Wiltjer made it official Saturday evening.

When news began to surface that Kyle Wiltjer would be a Kentucky Wildcat, most observers believed that it was a long shot, and likely just rumor. But Wiltjer made it official Saturday evening.

Kyle Wiltjer recently cut his list down to seven. Those schools were Kentucky, California, Gonzaga, Kansas, Texas, Wake Forest and Georgia Tech.

Wiltjer's father said that Kyle has now cut his list down to three, Kentucky, Wake Forest and California. The 6-foot-9, 225-pound combo forward announced his decision at the Boost Mobile Elite 24 game during halftime.

Wiltjer is described by Scout.com as a hybrid forward with a legitimate touch from the perimeter and the ability to be a guy inside. Kyle told Scout.com last winter what he was looking for in the school he would eventually choose.

"Definitely a style of play, where I can go and be versatile," said Wiltjer. "I wan tto be able to post up and shoot from the outside as well. A good coach and good player development are the other things that are really important."

Kyle joins Michael Gilchrist, Marquis Teague and Anthony Davis in Kentucky's top ranked 2011 recruiting class.
