La Salle JUCO prospect profile

La Salle head coach John Giannini has two scholarships to fill this season. One may go to a local product playing his junior college basketball in the Midwest. Recently his season ended abruptly as his team lost in the first round of his conference tournament but his performance this season proved he is a worthy target for the Explorers.

Former Philadelphia Engineering & Science guard Kechan Meyers is playing JUCO basketball at Arkansas Ft. Smith. On Thursday evening he led the Lions into battle against conference foe Seminole State. After beating Seminole state twice in the regular season many thought the Lions would advance two round two with very little problem. However, poor shooting haunted the Lions all night as they lost to Seminole State 77-63 at Oklahoma Baptist's Noble Complex. Myers led a second half Lions surge scoring 15 of his 17 points after halftime. However it was not enough as the Lions lost six of their last 8 games and finish the season 19-12 overall.

Kechan Myers 2006-2007 Final Stats:

15.1 points per game
4.3 rebounds per game
4.1 assists per game
37.7% field goal
63.2% free throw
31.5% 3pt
1.1 steals per game

La Salle is recruiting Myers as a defensive minded point guard. Known as a terrific on the ball defender he would help the Explorers defending small and quick conference guards like Drew Lavender at Xavier and Chris Lowe at Massachusetts. He has been rated anywhere from the 26th best JUCO player in America to 101st by various recruiting rankings.
