Vernon Goodridge transfers to La Salle

La Salle head coach Dr. John Giannini and his staff have secured Mississippi State transfer Vernon Goodridge for the Explorer basketball program. The 6"9 forward/center will have one year of eligiability remaining and will be eligible to play for La Salle during the 2008-2009 season.

There has been much speculation that Vernon Goodridge would end up at La Salle once he received his release from Mississippi State and it became official as Giannini announced Goodridge is now a La Salle Explorer in a story that appeared in the Philadelphia Daily News yesterday.

After a year of playing prep ball for Philadelphia Lutheran in 2005, the Brooklyn native signed with Mississippi State and ranked in the Top 40 of almost every recruiting publication. He played in 23 games for the Bulldogs in 2005-2006 and averaged 1.8 points and 1.9 rebounds per game.

Last season Goodridge played in 29 games and started 5 of those games averaging 2.3 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. He also shot 51% from the floor. Due to an NCAA rule which stipulates any player over 21 who plays on a team in an organized league will forfeit a year of eligibility for that year, Goodridge will have just one year of eligibility while at La Salle.
