South Jersey and Holy Spirit High School frontcourt prospect Ryan Brooks is in process of balancing basketball, summer school, and taking unofficial trips to prospective colleges. While he has interest from varying schools, one in particular may lead for the talented 6"9 wing forward.
is considered a tall wing player at 6"9. Despite his height Brooks can handle the basketball and step out to the three-point arc and knock down outside shots. According to his South Jersey Select AAU coach Bob Edmonds, Brooks is hearing from some Atlantic 10 schools, including La Salle
, as well as some Metro Atlantic schools. He is currently taking summer courses, which has cut into some of his exposure from playing this summer but he still has caught the attention of some schools. "He really likes Rhode Island
" according to Edmonds. "He also really likes Iona head coach Kevin Willard". Brooks has visited other schools unofficially. According to Edmonds, Brooks has already visited Rhode Island, Albany, Iona, and Rider.
Brooks and his South Jersey Select teammates are competing in the Triple S Harley Davidson JamFest that concludes today. One of things Brooks needs to do to elevate his game and possibly attract higher offers is work on his inside game. "He needs to work on his post game" according to Edmonds. "He really has a lot of skills and a lot to offer".
With just two scholarships to give out, La Salle coach John Giannini will need to be very selective about who gets those scholarships but Explorer fans should keep an eye out for a very talented and ever improving big man with skills that just might play his way into an A-10 level scholarship.
