Steven Smith on Atlanta Hawks Roster

Former La Salle Explorer great Steven Smith is back in the NBA. This time as an Atlanta Hawk. The two-time Atlantic 10 Player of the Year split time between the Philadelphia 76ers and Caja San Fernando in Spain's ACB League last season.

Many La Salle fans have been asking and wondering what former Explorer Steven Smith has been up to. Will he get another NBA shot or will he play somewhere else? ExplorerHoopReport.com has learned Smith will return to the NBA as an Atlanta Hawk joining fellow Big 5 player and Temple product Antywane Robinson as training camp invitees.

This past summer Smith played for the Orlando Magic's summer league team. His play was somewhat spotty and with Orlando's plethora of forwards the 6"9 forward was forced to look elsewhere for a spot to land. Last season he made the Philadelphia 76er's roster where he played in 8 games and averaged 0.6 ppg and 0.8 rpg in 3.5 mpg (.250 FG%, .500 FT%. After being released from the Sixers he found himself playing for the Anaheim Arsenal where he showed his versatility averaging 18.6 ppg in 22 contests (14 as a starter), hitting .520 FG%, .394 3FG% and .816 FT%.

Smith finished his career as La Salle 7th leading scorer in La Salle history with 1,940 points and 5th leading rebounder with 872.
