Warhawk Hoops Gets Home Victory

The ULM basketball team and new head coach Keith Richard got their first win of the 2010 season with a 70-59 victory over Southeastern Oklahoma.

Junior guard Fred Brown was back in the lineup for the ULM Warhawks home opener and picked up where he left off scoring a game high 21 points in a 70-59 victory.

The Warhawks stretched a five point halftime lead to right at double digits for most of the second half in the win.

Lawrence Gilbert and Tommie Sykes each reached double digit scoring with 14 and 11.

Gilbert and Freshman forward Steven McClellan led the team with eight rebounds each. Guard Marcelis Hansberry had five assist to lead the team along with nine points.

ULM still did not shoot the ball well finishing just 23/65 (35%) and 7/23 (30%) from three point range.

The Warhawks went to the free throw line 28 times converting 17 of those into points (60%).

Brown leads ULM in scoring at 23.0 ppg.
