Texas Athlete Is A ULM Commitment

ULM has pulled their fair share of prospect out of the state of Texas and added another one this weekend.

Canyon Creek Christian athlete Cameron Oliver made a big decision this weekend official when he gave his verbal commitment to the ULM coaching staff.

Making his first visit to ULM, Cameron took in the sights and sounds of Monroe and especially - the food.

"The food was so good" joked Cameron. I bet I gained a couple of pounds on my visit".

Oliver was but a small blip on the ULM recruiting radar coming off his Junior season but quickly climbed the Warhawks big board with a very impressive senior season.

"I sent my highlight tape to ULM after my Junior season. ULM looked at it and there was some interest but mainly just keeping in touch".

"After my first four games of this season I sent ULM those highlights and that's when they really started to show me interest".

"Coach Wahl told me that if I could make that much of an improvement from my Junior to Senior season that my upside would be huge at the college level". "After the season was over I sent coach Wahl and Coach Berry my senior film and that's when I got a call from ULM with an offer".

Cameron stands 6'2 1/2 and 175 pounds and was clocked at 4.58 and 4.60 in his most recent forty times.

Oliver primarily played quarterback for Canyon Creek but his natural position in college will be at the WR position.

The speedster accounted for 2,949 yards and 40 touchdowns from his Junior to Senior season. The Warhawks were not the only team to notice Cameron.

Rice has offered me as well as Navy but they keep going back and forth as both schools lost some scholarships and would like for me to wait a little later in the recruiting process. Utah State has also shown a lot of interest".

For Cameron though, he found what he was looking for in ULM this weekend as he ended the recruiting process and committed to the Warhawks.

"We all went to the Country Club to eat Saturday night and I had a good talk with Coach Berry. I loved the campus, the staff, and the academics at ULM".

Coach Berry shook my hand and announced to everyone there that I had just committed. All the coaches came up and shook my hand, it was a great feeling".
