Mississippi All-Star: David Mahaffey

Fresh off of an appearance in the 6A state title game, Brandon offensive lineman David Mahaffey is working hard in practice sessions in anticipation of this weekend's Mississippi/Alabama All-Star game. Mahaffey is a name that has been mentioned quite a bit by the coaches during the early practices.

"I expected to come in and contribute," said Mahaffey. "I was ready to see what it was going to be like.

"I wanted to compare myself against the best.

"Being able to come out here and work with these guys is just a great opportunity."

Bringing players together from all corners of the state and forming a cohesive unit can be a chore.

Mahaffey believes the offensive linemen are adjusting to the scheme pretty well.

"It hasn't been too bad," said Mahaffey. "I see some of the same things we did at Brandon here.

"I can use some of the same things I did at Brandon, so it hasn't been that bad."

Several schools have shown interest in Mahaffey, but no major colleges have offered yet.

The talented guard hopes to change that with a solid showing this week.

"I want to come out and show what I can do," said Mahaffey. "I want to compete at a high level and show that I belong."
