ULM Baseball Adds A "Boomer" To 2008 Class

Some names are easy to remember than others but when your name is Boomer, it's one that your not likely to forget. The Louisiana Warhawks have added a solid shortstop to their 2008 signing class.

Some names are easy to remember than others but when your name is Boomer, everyone knows who you are. Boomer Blanchard is a 6'0 175 pound SS/2B from Westgate high school who now makes plays for LSU-Eunice Community College.

Next year he will take those skills and apply them to the University of Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks. "I was looking for a 4 year school after my time here at LSUE and after I took my official visit earlier this month, I knew ULM was the place for me."

I didn't get to play any summer ball this year because I had my tonsils removed." That didn't stop several schools from inquiring about the All Region shortstop. Besides the ULM offer I got stuff from SE Louisiana, Northwestern, Sienna, NY, and ULL was in contact with me a good bit as well.

"I took my visit on August 30th and really liked what I saw", said Blanchard. The facilities were really nice and the program is going in the right direction. I just felt that ULM was a good fit for me. Coach Dax and Coach Trahan were real nice and made me feel like this was home."

What about the nickname boomer? "LOL, my brother game me that name when I was born and it just stuck with me. I guess he was a big fan of Boomer Esiason." As a freshman Boomer was named the team's defensive player of the year and picked up his Region's award for best shortstop. Boomer makes the fourth commitment for the ULM Warhawks.
