Off To A Fast Start

Elysian Fields Yellow Jacket QB Tim Curry is off to a fast start this season. WarhawkNation spoke with the talented quarterback to see how things were shaping up on the recruiting front and how his senior season is going.

After a convincing 45-0 opening game victory over Queen City, TX, Tim Curry and his Elysian Fields Yellow Jackets have good reason to be excited about this season. "We got off to a slow start offensively; it's all about getting on the same page. I would over throw a receiver, or we would have a missed block, or a dropped pass. We are traditionally a second half team and once we got going we wore them down. The Yellow Jackets also cruised to a 50-0 victory in week two over Union Grove."

The Jackets run the split veer offense but will spread it out and throw the ball as well. "We throw the ball between 10-15 times a game, it really just depends on what the defense shows." My coach will allow me to check off at the line of scrimmage if I see the defense making adjustments or showing blitz."

"Our defense is probably the best defense that has come through this school." With 10/11 starters back from last year the defense had yet to allow a point through 2 games this year. "Not only is our defense solid, but our offensive line is just as good as last years. We play in the toughest district in 2A and are currently ranked the #1 team in East Texas".

The Jackets followed their big week two win with another big victory over the Hooks Hornets 34-12 this past Friday night. "Our goal as a team is winning state, no less." Through 2 games Curry has put up some impressive numbers considering he has barely played in the second half of both games. So far Curry is 13/25 passing for 221 yards and 2 touchdowns with no interceptions.

Tim also does it with his legs picking up 117 yards and three more touchdowns. So how has Tim's recruiting going since football season has started? Going real well, I have the three offers that I am still considering in Utep(soft verbal), ULM, and Louisiana Tech. ULM and Utep are close at the top with LaTech being up there as well.

I took my official visit to Utep back on September 1st. My visit went well. I was the only one that visited that weekend. I liked the visit, it was positive for me to check it out. The distance from my home was a bit of a factor but the experience was a positive one.

"I have a lot of friends that have gone to ULM and had really good things to say about the school. The coaching staff is phenomenal, especially Coach Weatherbie. I feel like it is a situation where I can come in and maybe win the starting quarterback job, get plenty of playing time. They have some brand new field turf that is really nice, they are playing a lot of big schools and I think they are on the right track." I plan on taking an official visit when ULM host Arkansas State in October.

My mother graduated from Louisiana Tech and I have some friends that attend the school as well. It's only a little over an hour from my home town. Ruston is a community where I know a lot of people and I am familiar with the area. They have a new coaching staff this year that seems to have gotten off to a good start. I plan on making an official visit but I am not sure what date that will be yet".

As for making a decision on his future Curry says he will enjoy his senior season and not worry about that until signing day gets closer. It's all about my senior year, you only get one and I want to enjoy it as much as I can. We have a special team and our goal is to bring home that championship trophy". Other schools that have show interest in Curry but have yet to offer are Southern Miss, Houston, and KSU.
