After a heartbreaking 48-42 road defeat to the Evangel Christian Eagles, the Homer Pelicans learned one thing, and that is they can play with the big boys." We came so close, just a couple of plays here and there and we win that ball game", said Casey.
"Even though we lost, our confidence is up and we know we can make a deep run into the playoffs." Homer head coach Glen Kyle says Richie is one of those athletes that you don't get to coach but every so often. "Richie has kept us in every ball game this year, he is an outstanding athlete".
"Just to give you an idea of how important Richie is, he hurt his knee in the Haynesville game and we didn't know if he would play the next week vs Loyola. At halftime we had 3o yards of offense so we put him in the second half. All he did was throw a 96 yard touchdown pass and follow that up with a 60 yard touchdown pass. Richie is what makes our offense go".
Coach Kyle says that Richie's talents have generated 2 local offers so far. "ULM and Louisiana Tech have both offered Richie. The Warhawks want him as a quarterback and Tech is recruiting him as an athlete. He also attended 2 LSU camps and did very well, the staff was impressed with him".
So what does Casey have to say bout his 2 early offers?
Louisiana Tech It seems like they are getting better and are just one step from winning. I have been able to attend a couple of games this year. I think they have the program going in the right direction.
ULM I like the shotgun formations and the spread offense the Warhawks run. That is what I am running now in high school so I am familiar with that kind of offense.
Richie has tallied over 1200 yards of total offense and scored 13 touchdowns by land or air. As far as a commitment date Casey says he is going to finish the football season and then see where his offers are.
