Santa Delivers The Goods

Head Coach Charlie Weatherbie and the ULM coaching staff received and early Christmas present when five mid season juco's faxed their NLI's to the University.

As reported earlier on WarhawkNation, the ULM Warhawks was looking to sign as many as six juco players on mid season signing day. Earlier this afternoon, they hit the jackpot when 5/6 they were pursuing committed to be ULM Warhawks.

One of the biggest(no pun intended) was the signing of huge defensive tackle Alex Ford(6'2 315) from Pearl River Community College. Ford was a hot commodity this fall as he held offers from ULM, Louisiana Tech, and Kansas State. After an official visit to Alabama this weekend there was word the Crimson Tide might extend an offer his way. In nine games, Ford finished this season with 68 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, and forced a fumble.

Joining their buddy at ULM will be teammate defensive tackles Thomas Robinson(6'0 285) and Aaron Williams(6'1 305), both from Pearl River CC. Thomas gave his verbal to the ULM coaching staff after a visit in mid November and Williams soon after. Together the three will bring immediate strength and dept to the ULM front four. Senior defensive tackles David Cooper and Kendal Mouton both are graduating but Mouton has applied for a medical red shirt from SMU so stayed tuned to see if he gains a year back.

Williams tallied 42 tackles, 6 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and forced 3 fumbles and Robinson finished with 19 tackles, and a sack.

Corner back Otis Stamps also was a visitor to the ULM campus back in November and soon after gave his verbal to the ULM coaching staff. Stamps is a 5'10.5 180 pound corner who will step right in and help the ULM secondary. Last year Stamps led his team in interceptions while picking off 10 passes in a two year span. He finished the season with 24 tackles, a sack, and 2 forced fumbles. With the departure of corners Darius Battles and Quintez Secka, Stamps will have an immediate impact for ULM. Stamps was coached in the secondary by former ULM and New England Patriot great Larry Whigham.

With the departure of one of the most outstanding and durable centers in Adam Hill, ULM has received a NLI from center Keating Helms. Helms from Gulf Coast CC, took his official visit to ULM 2 weeks ago and confirmed his commitment to the Warhawks. At 6'2 315 Keating will come in and help pave the way for the ULM offense and provide immediate help and experience at the center position.

The Warhawks are still awaiting the arrival on one more NLI and a big one it would be. Stay tuned to WarhawkNation as we bring you these updates.
