Butler Juco Lineman Commits To ULM

With six juco commitments already signed for the 2008 recruiting class, the ULM Warhawks can add one more to that tally. 6'6 lineman Ryan Dercher has committed to play for ULM next season.

Butler CC offensive lineman Ryan Dercher makes the ULM Warhawks 14th commitment for the 2008 recruiting class.

A native of Leavenworth, KS, Dercher attended Pleasant Ridge high school and took his official visit to ULM last weekend. "My visit went well, Monroe has a family atmosphere about it, real laid back. I had dinner with Coach Weatherbie and he told me that I would have a real good shot at starting for them at left tackle".

Dercher helped the Butler Grizzlies captured a piece of the NJCAA Championship with Gulf Coast Community College. The Grizzlies defeated the Snow College Badgers 56-27 while Gulf Coast beat Kilgore 62-28 for the split championship. Butler has won 5 National Championships now and the last 7 Jayhawk Conference titles.

Dercher said several schools inquired about his services at the D-1 level. "I had a scholarship offer from Baylor before their coach was let go. I visited New Mexico and they were about to offer. Georgia Southern and Memphis have also been in contact with me recently as well".

Coach Weatherbie told me that he really wanted me at ULM, and that they are expecting great things in 2008 and I wanted to be apart of that".
