Suire Bomb Saves The Day For ULM!

The ULM Warhawks got a dazzling performance from Jared Jennings and Kyle Suire blasted a solo home run in the top of the 10th to give ULM a 1-0 victory over Nicholls State.

Breaking a 0-0 deadlock, Kyle Suire launched a solo home run over the right field wall in the top of the 10th inning. It would be the game winner as Derek Ward would come on and now allow a hit in two innings while striking out three.

Jared Jennings went a strong 8 innings for ULM only allowing four hits and struck out a career high 10 batters. Ward (1-0) picked up the win while Dale Dickerson (0-1) took the loss. Dickerson went 2 2/3 innings allowing two hits, striking out three, and gave up the solo home run to Kyle Suire.

ULM pitchers Jennings and Ward combined for 10 innings of work allowing just four hits, walking one, and striking out 13. The Warhwaks out hit the Colonels 8-4, and left 9 men on base as opposed to 8 for the Colonels.

A.J. Siggers and Matt Laird each doubled in the game and as a team ULM was 2/4 in the stolen base department. The two teams will square off tomorrow with Ryan Kirk taking the mound for ULM and Justin Breaux for Nicholls.
