While the coaches for each team might be handing out compliments to each other, don't expect fans of each school to do the same. Pick up sticks, marbles, baseball, whatever, neither one wants to lose to the rival that just 30 minutes of blacktop separates.
Let's not kid ourselves here folks, this is a rivalry and will be....Forever! There is too much history involved for it not too. While it looks like neither team will face each other on the gridiron, that hasn't stopped the two baseball programs from renewing their rivalry.
The Warhawks will send RHP Ben Soignier to the mound to face LHP Andrew Lassere for the Bulldogs. Both will be making their first starts of the season. ULM (4-0) is fresh off an upset last night of #29 Southern Mississippi 4-1. The Bulldogs played a doubleheader yesterday, taking both games from UT Arlington by a combined score of 16-5.
While ULM is off to a hot start, not many people thought the Warhawks would be doing it with pitching. The Warhawks will have a tough time taming the hot Bulldog bats. Tech has already scored 60 runs in just 5 games to start the season.
The Warhawks will counter with some fire power of their own. Current SBC player of the week Kyle Suire brings a league best .632 average to the plate. He and Dexter Fontenot lead the team with 7 RBI's apiece.
"If you want to see some good baseball, there will be two good college teams on display tomorrow", said Coach Jeff Schexnaider. Louisiana Tech has been playing real well, they have one of their best teams and we are just glad to get home after four games on the road. I hope everyone comes out to watch it".
First pitch is scheduled for 6:30. Game time temperature expected to be 50 degrees. See you at the ballpark. Good Luck to both teams.......*cough* Go *cough* Warhawks *cough cough*.
