The Warhawks hope to keep the momentum of the conference sweep over FAU, when they face McNeese State. This past weekend the Warhawks sweep what was league leading FAU Owls. Winning home games has been a struggle this year, but the Warhawks put that to a end. ULM won Friday nights game 7-6, Saturdays game 3-2 and then convincingly on Sunday 13-5.
The Warhawks travel to Lake Charles on Wednesday, April 2 to face the Cowboys of McNeese. First pitch is set to be thrown at 7:00 PM. According to the ULM Athletic website, live stats will be available at http://www.ulmathletics.com/
McNeese State is another Southland Conference rival. The cowboys are currently 8-17 overall, with a record of 4-5 in the Southland Conference. The night before the Cowboys host the Warhawks, they will be traveling to New Orleans to face a good Tulane team. Don't be fooled by McNeese States record, so far this year they have faced Louisiana Tech (3 Games), Texas A&M (2 Games), Lamar (2 Games), Dallas Baptist, Houston and Oral Roberts.
Monday, the Warhawks moved into sole possession of 1st place in the Sunbelt Conference, received a vote in the USA Today for a top 25 ranking and Ben Soignier picked up player of the week in the Sunbelt. After the one game against McNeese State, the Warhawk baseball team will welcome The University of Arkansas Little Rock to Warhawk field for a 3 game conference series.
I was able to make it to Monroe this weekend to watch the Warhawks in a crucial series against FAU. The atmosphere is amazing at the games. I continue to see the fans come out more as the year goes on. If you have not been to a game this year, then you are really missing out in some awesome baseball. There is really something interesting about this team. I invite everyone to help spread the word about ULM Baseball! Lets help Coach Shake fill the stands and support a great group of players!
