Warhawks Leave No Doubt, Drop ULL 14-4

A 19 hit attack by the Louisiana Warhawks led to big 14-4 victory over the host team, the Louisiana-Lafayette Cajuns. The Warhawks take the series and have now won all 6 of their conference contest.

After a disappointing Friday contest in which the ULM Warhawks committed six errors and lost 12-10, they bounced back on Saturday and Sunday to take the 3 games series 2 games to 1 over the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

Early on todays game had all the makeup of a pitchers duel that would be decided in the later innings. That would not be case as the Warhawks opened up a close 4-2 ball game and put the Cajuns (17-17, 8-10 SUN BELT) away in the eight and ninth innings scoring 10 runs for the 14-4 win.

ULM (22-12, 14-4 SUN BELT) would pound Cajun pitching for 14 runs on 19 hits and hit three more home runs. Josh Lett (3.30 ERA) picked up his sixth win of the season against one loss. The southpaw went 5 2/3 scattering seven hits and giving up 2 runs. Short stop Ben Soignier picked up his third save of the season going the final 3 1/3 innings.

The Cajuns came into this weekends series leading the Sun Belt with a 4.61 team ERA. After surrendering 37 earned runs to the Warhawks that number swelled to a now 5.30 team ERA. ULM got big days at the plate by Ben Soignier, Kyle Suire, and Nick Maragas. The trio combined to go 11/16 with 3 Home Runs, 11 RBI, and 7 runs scored. ULM hit .378 during the three game series.

ULM will return to action with a mid week match up with Centenary and McNeese State before getting back to Sun Belt action when they host Middle Tennessee for a three game series.
