ULM jumped out to a quick 14-5 lead and never looked back routing the visiting McNeese State Cowboys by a score of 21-9.
The Warhawks got some impressive individual performances as Matt Collins had a perfect 4/4 night hitting a home run and driving in four runs while scoring four. Dexter Fontenot also finished a perfect 4/4 with a home run, four RBI's and three runs scored. Catcher Nick Maragas had a 4/5 night scoring two runs and driving in three.
In the bottom of the second inning, the first seven batters reached base, six by hit, one by a fielders choice. Matt Collins started the inning with a solo home run. Later Kyle Suire hit a 2-Run homer and Dexter Fontenot made it back to back with a solo shot of his own.
The hits just kept coming in the bottom of the third. Matt Collins emptied the bases with a 3-Run double. Nick Maragas followed with another double scoring Collins extending the Warhawks lead to 9.
Devin Pourciau picked up the win going 6 innings. He allowed 7 hits, 7 runs (5 earned), walked one and struck out four.
Jona Conrad got the loss for McNeese lasting only two innings. He was hammered for 11 hits, 8 earned runs, and gave up three home runs.
Dalla Smith was brought on to stop the bleeding but never recorded an out. Smith walked three, gave up one hit and five runs before being yanked for To Fontenot. To worked 3 innings and was tagged for 9 hits and six more runs.
ULM gets a day off and returns to action this weekend when they host the Blue Raiders from Middle Tennessee for a three game set.
