Browning Takes In ULM Game

MaBank quarterback Kolton Browning has a huge rivalry game this Friday night against class 3A Kemp. Kolton also travled to Little Rock Saturday night to watch Arkansas take on ULM. Get inside to get the scoop on Kolton's recruitment, his thoughts on the game, and his season so far.

"Kemp is a huge huge rivalry for us", said Kolton Browning. It's probably our biggest rival, there will be tons of fans there Friday night to watch.

So far MaBank and Kolton are 1-1 on the season losing a close 21-14 game this past Friday night to Athens. A week earlier Kolton rallied his team from four scores down to pull off a dramatic come from behind victory against Kaufman 42-39.

Through two game of the 2008 season Kolton is already on pace to shatter the huge numbers he put up as a junior. Browning as completed 58/88 (66%) for 743 yards, 8 touchdowns and just 2 interceptions.

What will Kolton see this Friday night when he and MaBank face Kemp? "They run a cover three and play with their safeties deep. Kemp will try and make us nickel and dime our way down the field. I will just have to take what they give me and take advantage of my opportunities when they do make a mistake".

"So far our run game has struggled out of the gate. We haven't had a 100 yard rushing game yet, and that is one of our goals coming into Friday night".

Kolton and his father traveled to Little Rock to watch the ULM Warhawks host the Arkansas Razorbacks this past Saturday night and came away impressed with his future team.

"That was a great game to watch, lots of excitement. I was impressed with the ULM fans that traveled to the game, they were making a lot of noise. We sat just above them. ULM really came out and took control of the game, we thought they had it but Arkansas rallied late to steal that one".

"I liked the ULM play calling, they mixed the run and pass up about 50/50 and they took their shots down the field. As a quarterback I liked to see that", joked Kolton.

Now that coaches are able to contact recruits once a week, Kolton says he hears from the ULM staff every week. I talk to Coach Farmer and Coach Weatherbie every Sunday". I usually call Coach Weatherbie on Sundays and we talk about the game".
