Warhawks Pick Up Speedy Athlete

ULM Warhawks pick up first skill position player for 2009.

The ULM Warhawks have picked up their first skill position player for the 2009 class in Belle Chasse wide out Otis Peterson.

"Yes sir, I called Coach Wells Saturday night and told him I wanted to commit to ULM". He was actually shocked because he wasn't expecting my call but he quickly got excited that I was on board. I just felt in my heart ULM was the place for me.

Otis makes the Warhawks 9th commitment for 2009 and the first wide receiver commitment. "I like being first, it's my philosophy", joke Peterson.

Belle Chasse pulled off the state of Louisiana's biggest upsets this past Friday night when they went on the road and defeated the Bastrop Rams 35-34, advancing to the Class 4A State Championship game. The Cardinals will take on an ole foe in the Shaw Eagles Saturday night in the Superdome.

Shaw is the only blemish on the Cardinals (12-1) record this season losing the Eagles 28-27 on a missed pat try. "We really didn't play our game the first time we met them and turned the ball over six times".

"We have been dreaming about this all year. We worked so hard in practice and when we break the huddle we say "dome".

Belle Chasse head coach Becnel had this to say about his talented WR.

Otis is a very polished high school wide out who is very explosive when he gets his hands on the ball. He is very fast, has great hands, and he knows what to do with the ball after he catches it. Otis was sold on ULM because of their offensive scheme and the fact that they get their wide receivers involved in the passing game".
