ULM Warhawks Go To White Castle

One of Louisiana's biggest kept secrets is hidden in a little town in Iberville Parish called White Castle. With a population of right around 2,000 you wouldn't think you would find one of the states best backs in Jyruss Edwards.

White Castle running back Jyruss Edwards has all the makings of a big time athlete at the college level. At 6'0 and 190 pounds, Jyruss could be the ULM Warhawks sleeper in this years signing class. Warhawk Nation caught up with Edwards on his drive back home and learned that the talented back committed to ULM.

"ULM got my commitment", claimed Edwards. They have a beautiful campus, great teammates, and a great staff. This wasn't my first visit, I drove up a couple of times this year to watch them play. I knew from the first minute I got here this is where I wanted to play".

"Theo Smith was my host and he really is a great guy. He introduced me to Frank Goodin and several other teammates. I had a blast, the whole team just feels like a family".

Edwards has been putting up insane numbers the last couple of years. A hip injury earlier this year is the only thing that could slow him down. "With my hip plus the hurricane canceling games, I only got to play in 5 games". In those five games though, Jyruss rushed for 1,100 yards and 15 touchdowns. It gets better.

As a Junior, Edwards led the state of Louisiana in rushing finishing with an unbelievable 2,600 yards and 31 touchdowns.

"I'm just ready to get to ULM and show everyone what I can do. Coach Weatherbie said he is going to get me on the field anyway he can. Even if its just returning punts and kickoffs, I am ready to play".

White Castle Coach Dominique said besides LSU, Jyruss was being recruited by all the state schools. Jyruss informed Warhawk Nation that he held offers from Tulane, ULL, Northwestern State, McNeese, and LaTech.

Jyruss holds a 2.8 GPA and scored a 20 on his ACT making him academically qualified. He plans on studying Kinesiology at ULM.
