ULM Battles The BCS

The ULM Warhawks went after some of the south's best talent, just missing out to the bigger BCS schools.

Like a boxing match that goes 12 rounds, the ULM Warhawks got knocked out in the 11th round against some of the big BCS schools when it came to 2009 prospects. One thing is for sure though, they were not scared to roll the dice and more importantly showed that they will continue to fight for some of the south's top talent.

Here are some of the top in and out of state prospects that the ULM staff went after only to come up short.

Josh Johns - Josh took his official visit to ULM back in the season. After weighing his options with several in state schools, a grey shirt from LSU would keep him close to home.

Lamin Barrow - A player early for Barrow the Warhawks were pushed aside when the likes of Ole Miss, LSU, and Mississippi State jumped into the game.

Bennie Logan - Scheduled for an official visit the ULM the last weekend of recruiting season, Bennie exploded and so did his offers. He chose LSU.

William Moore - Once a ULM commit, signed with Oklahoma State

Christopher Knighton - A commit to ULM late in the process, but tripped to Texas Tech and committed to the Red Raiders.

Jarrett Brown - Brown took official visit to ULM, Kansas State, Tennessee, and Oklahoma before deciding on the Sooners.

Robert Nelson - Robert tripped to ULM 2 weeks before signing day and had the Warhawks in his top 3 with Tennessee and Auburn. A Vol offer came through on signing day thus knocking ULM out of the picture.

Justin Jones - After de-committed from Kentucky Jones had narrowed his choices down to Vanderbilt, UK, ULM, and East Carolina. The Pirates won that battle.
