ULM's Ward Stopper Of Year Candidate

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association has announced their Top 40 Pre-Season Stopper of the Year Watch List. ULM's Derek Ward is among the deserving candidates.

ULM relief pitcher Derek Ward has been named a NCBWA Pre-Season Stopper of the Year Candidate for the 2009 Baseball season.

Ward finished 2008 with a team best 3.38 ERA appearing in 28 games for the Warhawks. Ward posted a 5-3 record and was 7/10 in save situations. In 56 innings of work, Derek struck out 56 and walked 21 while holding opponents to a .255 batting average.

Ward is joined on the list by Sun Belt conference opponent Josh Storm of the Troy Trojans.
