5 Warhawks Make All Classic Team

Five Warhawks were named to the Warhawk All-Classic Team for their outstanding performances this weekend. Matt Laird, Nick Wade, Matt Collins, Ben Soignier, and Keith Christensen. Ben Soignier was named MVP of the Classic.

Matt Laird

Matt was 5/13 (.385 average) with 6 runs scored and 3 RBI. Laird also had a double, triple, stolen base, 2 walks, finished with a .467 on base percentage and .615 slugging %. Matt has been batting clean up for the Warhawks in 2009.

Keith Christensen

After missing all of the 2008 season with shoulder trouble, Keith Christensen had a strong performance in his return to the rotation. Keith got a no decision going 5 inning allowing just 4 hits and 2 runs. Keith struck out four and walked just two.

Nick Wade

ULM third baseman Nick Wade finished the tournament with a .500 average going 4/8 at the plate. Nick scored 3 runs, drove in 2, had a .615 on base percentage and .875 slugging %. Nick was the Iron Man or "Craig Biggio" of the tournament getting beaned 3 times.

Matt Collins

First baseman Matt Collins had a strong weekend going 6/14 (.429 average) with a home run, 2 doubles, 4 RBI and 5 runs scored. Collins had 11 total bases, walked 3 times, had a .529 on base percentage and .786 slugging %.

Ben Soignier

ULM shortstop Ben Soignier showed why he was named to the pre-season All America team. Ben took home MVP honors after going 8/15 (.533 average) with a double, 2 home runs, 6 runs scored, and 10 RBI. Ben finished with 15 total bases, a .563 on base percentage, and slugged 1.000%.
