ULM line backer coach Deke Adams has accepted a job with the University of Southern Mississippi and will coach the Defensive Line in 2009. Warhawk Nation caught up with Deke and got his thoughts on the move to USM and what his time at ULM meant to him.

ULM Warhawk line backer coach Deke Adams has informed Warhawk Nation that he is leaving the program and will accept a job at the University of Southern Mississippi. Adams will coach the defensive line in 2009 for the Eagles.

In 2008 ULM line backers flourished under Adams with MLB Cardia Jackson registering 127 tackles and being named to the 2008 1st team All Sun Belt Conference team.

USM is a special place for me and my wife", said Adams. It's where we are from, my wife played basketball there and it's and hour from home. It's a great opportunity for myself and my family. The coaching staff at Southern Miss has done a great job with that program and I am excited to be apart of it".

"My time here at ULM was great. I didn't know what to really expect coming to Louisiana but Bobby Staub and Coach Weatherbie were unbelievable and I am grateful for the opportunity to have coached here. There is great potential here at ULM and if the opportunity presented itself I would love to come back here one day and continue my coaching career".
