Warhawks Sweep; Beat GSU 11-7

With Sunday's sweep of Grambling the ULM Warhawks move to 6-1 on the season. ULM used the big bats of the 2-5 hitters and got a solid pitching performance from Freshman Tony Dischler.

The ULM Warhawks got a solid pitching performance from Freshman Tony Dischler and a big day from first baseman Matt Collins in a 11-7 victory against the Grambling Tigers.

Dischler gave Coach Dax Leone 6 solid innings of working giving up 3 runs (2 earned) on 6 hits. Tony walked four and struck out 2.

For the ULM bullpen the story was not the same as the Tigers were able to get after them a bit. Matt Cawthon relieved Dischler but last just 2/3 of an inning giving up 4 runs on 4 hits. Cawthon gave way to relievers Drew Graham and Scott Stephen to shut the door on Grambling and preserve the win.

The ULM 2 - 5 hitters set the pace today going a combined 13/21 with 8 runs scored and 7 RBI. First baseman Matt Collins had a huge day going 5/6 with 4RBI and 2 runs scored. DH Jordy Poche had a nice day as well going 4/6 with 3 runs scored.

The Warhawks broke open a tight 3-2 Grambling lead by plating 5 runs in the top of the 5th. ULM would tack on 2 more runs in both the 8th and 9th innings. GSU would make it interesting in the bottom of the 9th when they plated 4 runs but could get no closer than 4.

ULM (6-1) will return home this Wednesday for a mid week match up with the Golden Eagles of Southern Mississippi.
