Dallas Baptist Out Slugs ULM 13-11

The ULM Warhawks wound up on the wrong end of a 13-11 slug fest, courtesy of the Dallas Baptist Patriots. ULM got 2 home runs a piece from Boomer Blanchard and Jon Prevost in the loss.

ULM outfielder Jon Prevost and 2nd baseman Boomer Blanchard were in the zone Tuesday night as they both launched 2 home runs a piece. The home runs though were not enough as the Patriots of Dallas Baptist continued to dominate the series lately, winning the last three meetings.

Blanchard and Prevost were responsible for 7 runs scored and 7 RBI's. Prevost added a triple in the contest and finished with 5 RBI.

The Warhawks also got strong offensive performances from Ben Soignier(3/5 2RBI), Matt Collins (2/5), and Ryan McMillan (3/5) at the plate.

ULM had plenty of offense putting up 17 hits and 11 runs but again it was the pitching that would cost them.

Starter Devin Pourciau lasted just 1 2/3 innings giving up 6 hits, 4 runs, walking 2, with no strikeouts. Josh Miller relieved Devin but struggled in 3 2/3 innings with 9 hits allowed, 5 runs, 2 walks and no strikeouts.

ULM battled back and took the lead 12-9 but in the bottom of the 7th they could not hold that lead. Struggling ULM reliever Derek Ward entered the game and gave up 4 runs on 4 hits and took the loss. Josh Turner was able to stop the bleeding finishing the final 1 1/3 innings allowing no hits, runs, walks, and striking out three.

The two teams will conclude the series tomorrow with a 3PM first pitch start time.
