Warhawks Thump Trojans 24-5

The Warhawk bats are starting to heat up and the Trojans of UALR felt the brunt of it tonight in a lopsided 24-5 loss to ULM. The Warhawks post 23 hits, 10 of them extra bases hits with 4 being long balls.

Look out opponents, the Warhawk bats are getting hot. ULM put those bats on display Friday night as they hit Trojan pitching early and often in route to a 24-5 road victory. ULM (17-11 (7-6 Sun Belt) has won their 7th contest in the last 8 tries.

Starting pitcher Keith Christensen picked up his second win of the season giving up just 7 hits and 2 runs in six innings of work. Keith struck out 2, walked one, and lowered his ERA to 5.18.

Eight of the nine starters for ULM each finished with two hits or more in the contest. Jon Prevost, Matt Laird, Ryan McMillan, and Tom O'Gorman each hit home runs for the Warhawks. For O'Gorman it was his first home run and hit of the season and as a Warhawk.

Boomer Blanchard, Prevost, Laird, and McMillan were all over the bases as they each scored three times or more. Perry Smith was a tough out as well scoring 4 times on three hits. UALR had trouble retiring Jordy Poche as well as Poche was a perfect 3/3 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI's.

Shortstop Ben Soignier continued to heat back up with a 2 hit night driving in 3 more runs and scoring twice. Soignier now leads ULM with 35 RBI on the season.

ULM ran Trojan starting pitcher Adam Champion off after three innings of work. Champion was hit for 8 runs (7 earned) on 9 hits.

Matt Cawthon saw his first action out of the bullpen in over a month finishing the final 1.2 innings of the game.

The 24 runs allowed by Arkansas Little-Rock ties their season high for most given up. They dropped a 24-5 decision to FIU earlier in the season.

ULM (7-6) picked also picked up a game on conference leader Middle Tennessee (11-2) as they dropped a 5-2 decision to Louisiana-Lafayette tonight.

ULM and UALR will continue the series tomorrow with a 6:00PM first pitch start.
