5 In A Row For Warhawks; 8-3 Over ULR

ULM runs win streak to five games and moves to within 3 games of league leader Middle Tennessee with a 8-3 victory Saturday night.

ULM (18-11 8-6 Sun Belt) made it five wins in a row with a 9-3 victory Saturday night against the Arkansas Little-Rock Trojans. With the win ULM also takes the series and moves to within three games of conference leader Middle Tennessee. The Blue Raiders were beat for a second straight night by Louisiana-Lafayette 10-5.

Justin Anderson (5-1, 4.48 ERA) was able to keep the Trojan batters off the bases and off balance for most of the night. The southpaw ran into some trouble in the eighth inning but still finished the night giving up only six hits and three runs in 7 innings of work. Anderson struck out 5 Trojans and walked 3.

The Warhawks hit two more home runs in the contest; a solo home run and his 9th of the season by Jon Prevost, and a solo home run by Ben Soignier in the top of the 9th. It was Soignier's fifth home run of the season and his first since March 14 against New Orleans.

Matt Laird, Prevost, Nick Wade, and Perry Smith each finished the night with two hits a piece while Soignier finished with three hits, 2 RBI's and 2 runs scored.

ULM relievers Josh Miller and Corey Brown came onto to finish the contest allowing just one hit, walking one, and striking out one. The hit Miller game up scored two runs but they were charged to Anderson who had departed with runs on base.The two teams will wrap up the series tomorrow with a 1PM first pitch. Jordy Poche will take the mound for the Warhawks.
