ULM's Don Williams Named Louisiana Pitcher of the Week for Third Straight Week

After leading ULM to a series opening win over Louisiana-Lafayette this past Friday night, ULM junior Don Williams was named Louisiana Pitcher of the Week for the third straight time, the Louisiana Sports Writers Association announced on Tuesday.

Williams is the first pitcher to earn the honor three straight times since the LSWA began keeping records of the weekly awards.

Williams allowed just one earned run and struck out five Cajun batters as the Warhawks defeated their in-state rival 16-7 snapping ULL's seven game win streak. He issued just one free pass in his first career Sun Belt Conference start – the second straight game he has walked just one batter.

The Oklahoma City, Okla., native pitched into the ninth inning for the third straight game. Williams faced one batter in the final frame against the Cajuns officially registering eight innings of work after throwing complete games against Southern Miss (March 24) and Mississippi State (April 1).

The Warhawks (21-12) face their toughest test of the season the next two days with a pair of mid-week games at No. 5 Arkansas. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Tuesday and 3:05 p.m. Wednesday.

Both games will be broadcast live on 1680 AM in the Monroe area and worldwide on the internet at ulmathletics.com. Fans can also watch the games in Warhawks All*Access by visiting ulmathletics.com.
