Byran Jones: Warhawks Offer Big Man

Junction City Arkansas defensive tackle Byran Jones is heating up on the recruiting trail. The big man just picked up his 5th college offer from a school he is very familiar with.

When you mention Junction City Arkansas around the campus of ULM a familiar name comes to mind. Former All Sun Belt Mr do it all Kevin Payne and current safety for the Chicago Bears was a little know sleeper out of Junction City back in 2002. Another name has emerged to carry on the torch for the Dragons in big defensive tackle Byran Jones.

Jones is 6'2 300 and currently has a 400 pound bench press with a 555 pound squat max. "I am just trying to get faster and stronger for this up coming season", said Jones. "We won the state title in 2008 and finished 14-0. Our team goal as well as my goal is become repeat champions".

Already holding four scholarship offers, Byran recently picked up his fifth from a team he is very familiar with, the ULM Warhawks. "I actually live in Louisiana and ULM is only about 45 minutes from my house", said Byran. Not only is ULM close but Jones has strong family ties to the Warhawk program.

"My cousin Kevin Payne went to school there". ULM fans certainly remember that name as Kevin was a 3 time All Sun Belt Conference selection and a fourth round draft pick by the Chicago Bears.

"Yeah, I talked to Kevin about the recruiting process and kind of what to expect", said Jones. He just tells me to take it easy and find a school that best fits me.

So what about his offer from the Warhawks, are they a school that will get a look? "Oh yes sir, definitely. I am going to try and make it down on June 6th for the camp they are having on campus".

So what is Byran looking for in a school? "Academics are important to me and then I will look at football. I want to get some early playing time in college as well".

Will Byran follow his cousin Kevin to ULM? Stay tuned to as we keep you up to date with ULM recruiting news.
