Warhawks Send Trojans Packing

Less than a week from getting swept by the Trojans in the regular season, the ULM Warhawks hit the Trojans when it hurts the most and knocked them out of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. In the process the Warhawks continue to stay alive and advance.

The ULM Warhawks pounded Troy pitching for 16 runs on 18 hits in a lopsided 16-1 victory Saturday afternoon in Troy, Alabama. The Trojans season comes to an end and the Warhawks keep their dream alive for a post season birth.

Don Williams struck out 5 Trojans

While the Warhawks brought their big sticks to the game it was the pitching of Don Williams that also set the tone early and held the Trojans to eight hits and one earned run. Williams struck out five and walked just one going the distance.

Ben Soignier continued his assault on the ULM record books by homering two more times and running his single season RBI school total to 70. Ben needs just one more hit to take over as the schools all time hit leader.

Jordy Poche had four hits and 4 RBI's

Just about every Warhawk got in on the action as Jordy Poche had one heck of a game with a perfect 4/4 afternoon driving in four runs and scoring three runs.

Perry Smith and Boomer Blanchard each recorded three hits while Jon Prevost, Matt Collins, and Nick Wade all had two hits a piece.

With Don Williams going the distance the Warhawks will have their full arsenal of bull pen help tonight as they will face the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. WKU has won all four meetings against ULM (30-26) this season with three ending on a ten run rule score.
