No Time Like The Present; Warhawks Win Again!

Trailing 3-1 late in the game the Warhawks erupted for 8 runs in the bottom of the 8th inning and won it going away 11-3 over Western Kentucky

The ULM Warhawks live to play again after rallying for 8 runs in the bottom of the 8th inning and defeating Western Kentucky for the first time this season by the score of 11-3.

Senior Matt Collins and Junior Perry Smith both had outstanding games and both were key in tying the game in at 3 in the bottom of the seventh. Trailing 3-1, Perry hit a solo shot center field to bring ULM within one. Matt Collins then drove in Jon Prevost with an RBI single to left field to tie the game up.

ULM then erupted for eight spot in the bottom of the 8th when 10 batters came to the plate and scored on six hits, a walk, a hit batsman, and a fielding error.

Ben Soignier was pitched around all game walking three times and getting hit once. He still remains one hit shy of tying the all time hits record. The senior was called on late in the game to pitch and picked up his first win of the season. Soignier struck out one and allowed one base hit in 1.2 innings of work.

Keith Christensen enjoyed the best outing by a Warhawk pitcher against WKU all year. Keith gave up just six hits and three runs in 6.2 innings of work and really held the Toppers down allowing ULM to rally and win late.

The two teams will meet again at 5:30 in another do or die situation. The winner will advance to the Sun Belt Championship game while the loser will be going home eliminated.
