The Warhawks were struggling down the stretch of the regular season and limped into the SBC tournament. Now ULM is a game away from doing what most Warhawk fans believed they would do all along and that's make it to a regional. ULM (32-26) is now one game away from realizing that dream and will take on Middle Tennessee tomorrow for the right to do so.
Corey Brown (4-2), who hadn't started a game all year for the Warhawks, was masterful in shutting down the Hilltoppers. Brown allowed just two runs and scattered six hits in 7.1 innings of work and picked up his fourth win of the season.
Drew Graham came on in and relief and slammed the door shut on WKU finishing the final 1.2 innings and not allowing a hit. Graham walked 2 and struck out 2.
Graham got some great defense help as well. With no outs and a runner on first in the top of the ninth, Matt Laird took the steam out of WKU. Matt Payton walked to lead off the inning and tried to tag up on a Jake Wells deep fly to center field. Laird threw a dart back into 2nd base and hosed Payton to give ULM an unconventional double play.
Graham then kept WKU lead off hitter Jared Andreoli hit less on the day as he struck him out swinging on a fastball.
Championship game is set for 10:00AM.
