As a junior wide receiver Eric Thomas led the Eagles with 1,042 receiving yards on 74 catches and scored a whopping 22 touchdowns in the pass happy Evangel spread offense.
This past weekend Thomas saved the day for Evangel as they took on LaGrange in the 7 on 7 Championship game held in Shreveport, La. Trailing 30-25 with only 10 seconds left on the clock, Thomas out leaped 3 LaGrange defenders pulling down the game winning score and giving the host Eagles, the title.
It is that type of athleticism that has colleges so interested in the 6'1 190 pound burner.
"I play offense and defense", said Thomas. Some of the schools that are interested have been saying they like me on the defensive side of the ball, others like me on offense. I would prefer a spread offense that can take advantage of my speed.
"ULM was the first to offer me and so far they are my only offer. They like me as a wide receiver. I am setting up an unofficial visit later this month so that I can go check them out".
Other schools are showing interest in Thomas as well. "Tennessee, LSU, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, and Arkansas have all been talking to me. I haven't picked up any offers yet but they all want to see more of my highlights first".
