ULM Looks To Land West Monroe Prospect

Keeping the local talent close to home is something the ULM Warhawks have done a pretty good job of under the Charlie Weatherbie era. With West Monroe products Frank Goodin, Scott Love, C.C Carpenter, and Andrew Stout already on the roster, the Warhawks are looking to add another rebel with their most recent offer.

The West Monroe Rebels have a long standing tradition of producing quality D-1 talent on a regular basis. Current Rebel Dillon Day is looking to add to that list and continue his career at the next level.

"I look for us to have a strong season this year", said Day. We lost some players at key positions but overall we are a better team. We have a junior quarterback that can get it done, he is like a little DJ back there".

Most recently Dillon took the short trip across the river to attend the ULM one day camp held two weeks ago. "I had a solid performance in the lineman drills. The ULM staff really liked my footwork and how hard I went after it each play".

The ULM coaching staff was so impressed with Dillon that he soon was offered a full scholarship by the home town Warhawks.

"That was awesome to get that first scholarship offer", said Day. I really think my one on one skills impressed them enough that they offered me".

Maybe it was the 4.9 forty yard dash Dillon turned in at the camp. Day also sports a 325 bench, 520 squat, and 370 power clean.

"I play right tackle for West Monroe and that is basically what ULM is looking at me for. Really I can play anywhere on the line expect center".

Dillon says he is looking for a coaching staff that can continue to work with him and help advance to the next level. "Coach Leahy writes me several times a week and stays in touch with me. He said I was one of the top players on their board and they would love to have me commit to this class".

"While Dillon says he might let things play out, he did have high remarks for ULM. "Oh I love ULM, it's a great school and it's close to home". So far ULM is the only school that has offered Dillon a full scholarship to continue his football career.

Currently the Warhawks have 2 offensive lineman committed in Antonio Johnson and Jon Fisher. With one spot remaining, ULM is hoping to keep the West Monroe Rebel turned ULM Warhawk tradition going. Stay tuned to Warhawk Nation and we keep you updated on Dillon's status and college recruitment".
