O-Lineman Commits To ULM

With just two weeks until signing day the ULM Warhawks are looking to make up for lost time. They took another step as they picked up another verbal commitment, a much needed offensive lineman.

In what hopes to be a big recruiting weekend for the ULM, Warhawk Nation was informed by West Mesquite offensive lineman Demiere Burkett that he has committed to the ULM program.

"Coach Todd has been recruiting me for awhile and he stuck with me through the coaching change at ULM", said Burkett. I visited this weekend and gave the coaching staff my commitment".

Burkett was holding offers from ULM and New Mexico but said his visit to Monroe this weekend sealed the deal for him.

"I really like the campus, the coaching staff, and the new student success center. They are committed to the student athletes and keeping them on track to earn a degree".

Demiere just participated in the 2010 invite only All American game that was played in Austin, Texas on January 9th. He was also selected as a Junior and Senior to the district 15-4A 1st team.

As a life long Cowboys fan, Burkett also got to meet the newest member of the Warhawk staff in defensive tackle coach Leon Lett. "Wow", is all I can say said Burkett. Leon is one big dude and it just amazing to get to meet him".

"Coach Berry told me he wanted to see me apart of this program, he has a big picture plan for the program".

Burkett scored a 21 on his ACT and is academically qualified. He plans on studying Criminal Justice.
