Rhodes, Hahnville win opener

Lindzell Rhodes has played all over the field for Hahnville: Strong safety (his natural position), linebacker, defensive end - you name it, Rhodes has done it for Hahnville's defense. At 6-foot-0, 190-pounds, Rhodes has verified 4.55 speed and a nasty disposition when he's on the field.

"I had five tackles and a sack in our win over John Ehret," said Hahnville senior Lindzell Rhodes. "The week before -- in the jamboree -- JonTrell Lockett and I made a lot of tackles. He had four sacks and I had four-or-five tackles and a sack.

"Before that, we went against (highly-ranked) Higgins in a scrimmage and although they scored first, we stopped everything they did after that. I had a sack and three tackles in the scrimmage."

Over the summer, Rhodes was one of the top performers in the nation at the National Underclassmen Combine, running the fastest time of all participants at the Birmingham event.

The senior, a natural strong safety, has the strength to line up and effectively battle with offensive tackles at the line of scrimmage (at rush end) on the Class 5A level in high school.

"I'm getting interest from ULL and New Mexico State," Rhodes said. "ULL sent me some mail, inviting me to come visit, and I like New Mexico State's schedule. I like the conference that they (New Mexico State) play in.

"I also like Louisiana Tech. If they'd offer, I'd commit. They're one of my favorites."
