DeRidder LB hearing from Dawgs

DeRidder High School is 3-0 and the Dragons have a tough defense, led by middle linebacker Harrison Lewis and safety DeShazor Everett. Find out more about the 6-foot-0, 220-pound Lewis, who rules the middle of the field.

"I've been talking to Louisiana Tech, ULM, and Lamar," said DeRidder middle linebacker Harrison Lewis (6-0, 220, 4.68). "In terms of an offer, the coaches are telling me to wait until the end of the season and we'll go from there.

"I'm close with (Louisiana Tech defensive coordinator) Tommy Spangler. He calls every week and I hope that he'll offer soon. I'm looking forward to that possibility."

DeRidder, which has started the year 3-0, has only allowed 27 points and the southwest Louisiana community is excited about their Dragons.

"Everybody has been at the games," Lewis said. "It feels good to be 3-0. We have everybody looking at us.

"I have 31 tackles so far with three tackles for loss. The first game -- against Natchitoches-Central -- they threw the ball 50 times and I got an interception.

"Last year, I had 120 tackles and an interception. It was a good season for me."

Lewis and the Dragons are heavy favorites this week vs. 0-3 Westlake. The following Friday, the Hooper Trophy will be on the line when DeRidder squares off with U.S. 171 rival Leesville and Levander Liggins.
