Through five games, Fletcher has grabbed 20 receptions - good for second on the team (the team leader has 21 catches; no other players have more than eight).
Furthermore, Fletcher has accumulated 153 yards on kick returns. He has two touchdowns for Santa Monica, which is 2-3 on the year.
"I blocked a kick last weekend too," said Fletcher, who checks in at 6-foot-2, 200 pounds. "I'll be putting that on my highlight tape from this season.
"Our offense has been struggling some; our starting quarterback tore his ACL, and the other QB is new and he's been adjusting. We haven't had the chemistry that I'd like to see. It seems like we haven't been coming together yet as a team. With a JUCO team, you have a lot of new guys each year that don't know each other at first."
Fletcher, who has played tight end, slot, and wideout this year, is an integral part of his team's offense, having caught 1/3 of the squad's touchdowns (and 1/4 of Santa Monica's total receptions).
Despite his success on the field and in the classroom -- he was named the school's Student-Athlete of the Year a few months ago -- Fletcher is still seeking a scholarship offer to a four-year school.
"I really like what Nevada does with (Colin) Kaepernick. They've been having great success over there."
