Quick Hitter: Chrishawn Dupuy

Salmen cornerback Chrishawn Dupuy committed to MAC champion Miami of Ohio last month, but that was before then-head coach Mike Haywood departed. What's the outlook for National Signing Day?

"Miami is still leading and I feel like Miami is the place to be," said Salmen cornerback Chrishawn Dupuy, who gave the RedHawks a verbal pledge in December. "I want to ask Coach (Lance) Guidry about his plans, because he's the one who kind of sold me on coming there - with him being from Louisiana and all.

"I talked to the athletic director at Miami not too long ago, and he confirmed that they're going to honor my scholarship there."

Just yesterday, Miami hired Don Tredwell as its new head coach. Tredwell previously served as the offensive coordinator at Michigan State. Guidry, the RedHawks' interim head coach, will continue to oversee the team through its bowl game next week vs. Middle Tennessee.

After Haywood took the Pittsburgh job, a couple of in-state schools made an attempt to lure Dupuy away from Miami.

"Northwestern State's head coach (Bradley Dale Peveto) talked to me on the phone, and I'm going to visit there on January 14th.

"Nicholls State' coach - not the head coach, but an assistant - told me that they watched my highlight tape and they want me to forget about everybody else, come up there, and then start right away."
