Johnson Arrives in Ruston

Three-star offensive lineman Oscar Johnson has unbelievable quickness for a man with his size, and the 6-foot-6, 360-pounder is going to be a nightmare for Louisiana Tech opponents in the future.

"I don't start school until March, but I wanted to move up here early and start training on my own," said Ruston's newest (and most intimidating) resident, Oscar Johnson. "I chose Tech because of their good coaches. I like Coach (Petey) Perot and Coach (Jeff) Koonz.

"I'm working out and getting in shape. I'd say the best area of my game is run blocking - pulling. I have good feet for my size, and I've run a 5.3 in the 40-yard dash."

A few of Johnson's new teammates were former opponents in the highly-competitive Mississippi JUCO arena.

"I don't know any of those guys very well (off the field), but I know that Jeremy Graffree, Myles White, and Daniel Hayden are good players," Johnson said.

Johnson was recruited by several other schools, including Baylor, Troy, Mississippi State, Marshall, and UAB. He mentioned Ryan Williams as one of the current players that he knows well. Johnson is rooming with Larry Banks.
