Coleman Coming Down

Some coaches seem to be at the right place at the right time. OFten times, it's the coach that does his homework that wins in the end.

Louisiana Tech Associate Head Coach Rob Likens had talked to Kyle Coleman when he made his intitial search through southern and eastern Arkansas for 2011 recruits.

Coleman, who had high interest in Ole Miss along with an offer from Houston Nutt, seemed to be headed to Oxford for a good part of the season.

"Coach Likens called about three or four weeks ago," explained Coleman. "He had heard that Ole Miss had backed off, which they had. He wanted to get me down for a visit and talk to me about an offer. I'm going down this weekend and they have already offered."

Coleman said he is down to Louisiana Tech, Arkansas State, and UAPB. He visited Arkansas State last weekend.

Coleman is rated as the #165 wide receiver by Scout.com. "I prefer to play receiver, but I will probably end up at safety in college," he admitted. "I just want to see the environment, the coaches, the players. I want to talk to the players about the campus and everything."

Watson Chapel made it to the Class 5A semifinals. Coleman was a big factor in his team's success. He said he is in no hurry to make a decision. "It just depends on what comes in," added Coleman, who understands the ups and downs of the recruiting process. His father is the head coach at UAPB. "I'm just leaving it open," he said.
