Clemmons to Alcorn State

Tevin Clemmons, the 6-foot-3, 325-pound offensive guard from Pensacola Catholic, is taking his talents to the SWAC.

"I transferred to Pensacola Catholic for my senior year because they had a reputation for helping kids get to the next level," said Tevin Clemmons, who signed with Alcorn State yesterday. "I had interest from schools in the SWAC and MEAC, although it came down to Jackson State and Alcorn State.

"They were both showing me love, but I one thing I liked about Alcorn State was their sports medicine program. I'm a big sports medicine guy and that was a big part of the reason I chose them."

What else stood out about Alcorn State?

"They have very nice, decent facilities," he said. "I liked what their coaches were telling me, and I feel that I can help turn around their program. I think I can be a big help to their program. I'm looking forward to helping get something started at Alcorn State."

How does Clemmons describe his game and who are some linemen with similar skills?

"I'm physical and I come off the ball quickly," he said. "I like to ground and pound the defensive linemen. I've played in both the I-formation and the spread offense. I like Josh Sitton, who came from my school. Also, Michael Oher is a favorite. Another player would be Larry Allen. He's old school and very physical."
