Another Speedster at Cecilia

D'Andre Dartez has the football pedigree. He's related to Jamaican Dartez and Montrel Carter, whose names are familiar to fans across the state of Louisiana. D'Andre had an excellent junior campaign for Cecilia in 2010 and he should be heavily-recruited, just as his talented relatives were...

"I felt like last year was just the beginning," said 2012 prospect D'Andre Dartez. "I don't think I worked hard enough last year. I wasn't doing as much as I'm doing now; I feel like I can do way better than I did last year, and I feel like I should have done more."

Regardless, Dartez did plenty on the field for the Class 4A Bulldogs, who reached the playoffs despite toiling in the brutal Lafayette-area district.

"I had around 60 tackles and two pick-sixes," he said. "Those were the two interceptions that I had...I returned both for touchdowns. One was against Breaux Bridge and one was against Beau Chene.

"I played strong safety as a junior, but I'm moving to free safety as a senior. I'm also going to play quarterback and running back. On defense, I can run down people and I hit people. I can also catch the ball and score. I'm 6-foot-1, 200 pounds, and I run a 4.46 in the 40-yard dash. I run track, but other than that, I'm just working on football year-round."

What are Dartez's favorite schools?

"LSU, Florida State, Alabama, Nebraska, and Texas," he said. "I'm not getting any mail yet, but my coach told me that LSU is going to be coming to look at me."

Dartez played alongside his cousin, UL signee Montrel Carter, the last few years. How did that work for him?

"It was good," said Dartez. "Montrel showed me a lot of things. He taught me a lot."
