Hall has big plans in 2011

Jeffrey Hall and St. Charles Catholic advanced to the Class 2A semifinals last year before running into eventual state champ Evangel Christian. This fall, the Comets will once again be a team to reckon with, thanks to players such as Hall. Read further to find out more about the versatile '12 prospect.

Jeffrey Hall has showcased his wide variety of talents on the field over the past two years at St. Charles Catholic, starring at running back, wide receiver, kick returner, and now cornerback.

"As a sophomore, I gained 941 yards rushing with 14 touchdowns on 134 carries," said Hall (5-11, 173). "I also had 11 catches for 107 yards. As a junior, I returned two kicks for touchdowns: 99 yards against (Class 4A playoff team) Vandebilt Catholic and 76 yards against Lusher.

"I caught somewhere between 25 and 28 passes with six going for touchdowns. I missed one game due to injury, and I was limited in a few when I first returned."

St. Charles Catholic usually undertakes a grueling non-district schedule and last year was no exception, with the Comets squaring off against local public school East St. John (Class 5A) in the jamboree. Moreover, SCC - which beat ESJ in the jam - also toppled Class 4A playoff clubs Woodlawn-BR and Vandebilt Catholic early in the season. Hall ran for 50 yards on only three carries vs. Woodlawn, which ultimately reached the second round of the 4A playoffs.

Hall is receiving mail from Ole Miss, UCLA, Missouri, and Penn State, and he'd like to hear from in-state schools LSU, Louisiana Tech, ULM, and ULL.

"Our tight end, Harley Scioneaux, signed with ULM, so I have a connection up there," said Hall. "I went to ULL's camp and I liked it. I ran a 4.52 at their camp. I also ran a 4.49 at our school. I went to LSU's Junior Day this weekend and it was really nice. They have a nice campus.

"I expect that I'll play defensive back in college. I like free (safety), but I'll probably play cornerback my senior year, as well as wide receiver on offense."
