McKenzie's Making Plans

Jaborian "Tip" McKenzie, a three-star RB from Trinity Episcopal School in Mississippi, has three offers from SWAC schools and is expected to receive many more in the near future. He fills in on his plans, which include an upcoming visit to Louisiana Tech.

"I'm going to Louisiana Tech's Junior Day on April 12th," said Jaborian McKenzie. "Coach Jeff Koontz is recruiting me for Tech. He said that he's looking forward to seeing me at their Junior Day. He first saw me last year when they were down here looking at my teammate, Givonni Dent (SE Louisiana signee).

"I don't know a whole lot about Tech, but I'm going to find out a lot at the Junior Day. I watched them play Grambling last year, and I like their offense."

Southern, Alcorn State, and Jackson State have all offered McKenzie, who accounted for nearly 3,000 all-purpose yards last year.

"I don't have any favorites," he said. "I'm looking around and checking out all of the schools. I'm going to Southern Miss' Junior Day on February 26th. I've been talking to Coach (David) Duggan at USM.

"I'm also going to Southeastern on March 19th and Mississippi State on March 5th."

This evening, McKenzie is taking care of business on the hardwood, as his hoops squad does battle with Porter's Chapel in the MPSA semifinals.

"We're 28-5," said McKenzie, who is averaging 15 points, seven assists, and three steals per game. "I play the two and the one."

On the football tip, college recruiters are projecting "Tip," as he's widely known, to play slot receiver.
