Coach Speak: Jaborian "Tip" McKenzie

Jaborian "Tip" McKenzie led Trinity Episcopal (Natchez, Ms.) to a 15-0 season last year, and the three-star junior is receiving interest from numerous college programs. Hear from his head coach, David King, about what type of player McKenzie is...

"Tip is what happens when you combine a great athlete with a great work ethic," said Trinity Episcopal head coach David King. "He has God-given speed and explosiveness to go along with a tremendous work ethic. He has great hands and vision and can quickly turn around a game.

"I've been very fortunate to have some great athletes here, but Tip is different - his raw burst is something we haven't seen before. No one is going to outwork him. I know that whenever he gets to college, he won't have a teammate who works harder than he does."

Trinity Episcopal ran the gamut last year, putting the finishing touches on a perfect season with a 46-14 romp over Tri-County Academy (Flora, Ms.) in the MAIS Class A championship game.

"We will take a step up in classification next year," said King. "We should have a great offensive and defensive line."

And, of course, the Saints will return McKenzie, who exudes much more maturity than most high school students.

"He'll leave no stone unturned (when it comes to marketing himself to college programs)," said King of his prized pupil. "He knows how the (recruiting) game works and in this day and age, that's important."

McKenzie has three scholarship offers from SWAC schools and will likely add his initial FBS offer in the near future.
